Currently reading “On Longing” by Susan Stuart. I will be spending the next 3 months creating work that explores the means in which narrative stands in tension with history and how the keepsake or memorial is representative of how memory forms identity and determines how we interact with others.
So here’s the SUPER DUPER unattractive amount of damage I’ve accumulated in about 20 pounds of Hobby Lobby and Home Depot receipts this semester- hold your breath its kind of disgusting:
Wood pieces/plaques: $133.14
liquid leaf: $30.81
canvas: $34.95 (not too shabby!)
paint: $41.96 (also, not too much damage)
etc costs I can’t identify on the receipts I saved for their art based costs: $128.57
THE HELL?! This includes replacing broken palletes (i’ve broken 4 this semester, 4!), accumulating three-dimensional items for yet unrealized installations and sculptures (ok, I used SOME of them for the birdcage under the stairs…) candles for Sassy’s cage, small glass objects, paint brushes, varnish I’m sure, lace, linseed oil, yadda yadda- the point is THATS A LOT OF MONEY. Glad I have a stable job, haha.
